Editor, you hit a low spot … way below the belt.
Amazing how one poll can cause more panic than the $60,000 fountain that, after all the work, looks exactly like it did before.
I used to think Russell was just misunderstood. Then I saw the numbers on this poll and realized maybe we’re the ones who were misunderstood.
I agree with BobbySue…way below the belt on your “poll” on Russell. Go find someone else to pick on…
The beauty of the poll is you can simply say “no” if you support Russell. No need to discredit the question
Talk to most people and they are not happy with the direction of the Club. The Club has gone down hill the past few years since Russell came. Not even blaming Russell that is just a fact. Look at all the controversy with the renovations they wanted to do that they could not afford.
Members voted no and then Russell allowed them to do another vote and that also failed to pass.
Club dues keep going up, waiting list to sell memberships in Spa and Golf keep going up to multi year highs. More and more people finding that the Santaluz Club is not good value. Kitchens get shut down for mice/rat infestation, food poisoning.
Who is to blame for this? When there is problem after problem someone has to be held accountable. The Board of Directors is just a voluntary position. They don’t get paid the hundreds of thousands of dollars Russell is getting paid.
The Club may think they can’t afford to get someone else but that couldn’t be more wrong. They can’t afford to keep having more problems. Russell has become a distraction. That’s the truth.
It is time he takes the high road and steps down before more members put up their golf membership for sale. I am thinking of adding my name to the resale list.
What potential GM in their right mind would ever consider taking on a position here at the club knowing all the drama and division its members are causing? Think about it.
Right, because what sane GM wouldn’t want to step into a role where the board holds fake elections, the club is run like a private fiefdom, dues have quietly doubled in six years, and we all smile through it like it’s a wellness retreat. Honestly, sounds like paradise, for someone with a flair for fiction and a talent for creative accounting.
Many things need to be changed once Russell is gone. They need to change the bylaws. The entire Santaluz Board of Directors process is flawed. It is just the Club deciding who will be on the BOD. It’s not a true voting process. The Club selects who they want to be on the BOD. This needs to change.
One more thing as we were discussing is, if you hear from anyone that they are interested in running for the board to let us know and assume interest our aligned basically they don’t want to put a large Costco or something else on that piece of property that would go against POCN POCN would support them as well as the petition
I can confirm what Gianni is saying is true. I tried to join the Board of Directors a few years ago. I am well qualified and served on different boards before. They explained to me that the Club decides who they want to be on the Board! There is NO vote.
i.e. if there are 2 spots open and 10 people apply, the Club picks the 2 people they want and tell the other 8 people to take a hike even if they are better qualified.
Don’t believe me? Just ask them.
That’s true
Do you really believe that “10 people” are actually applying for a board position? it’s like herding cattle to get anyone to apply. We all complain but we don’t get involved except to anonymously type our grievances on the safety of our keyboards. That’s it.
Please read what Scott said: “David B. tried to challenge them and get on the Board of Directors—and the Club kicked him out!”
And people wonder why we don’t rush to put our names out there.
You’d be surprised what some folks are willing to do to protect their little fiefdoms.
David B got himself kicked out for OTHER reasons, and that was many years ago, so once again, talking out your rear.
