Slow Down, Santaluz: Important E-Bike Safety Reminders

As electric bikes and scooters become more popular around Santaluz, so do concerns about safety. The Community Office and Safety Department have seen a noticeable increase in reports of reckless or unsafe riding—particularly involving younger riders.

To help protect everyone in the neighborhood—residents, guests, children, and pedestrians alike—it’s essential that all e-bike and electric scooter users follow a few simple but critical rules:

  • Always obey posted speed limits within the community.
  • Follow directional signs and ride with the flow of traffic.
  • Yield to pedestrians and drive cautiously near children and other vehicles.
  • Stay off the Village Green. Riding any motorized device there is strictly prohibited.
  • Never enter through the Resident Lane. The barrier arm may lower unexpectedly and cause serious injury.

These guidelines exist to keep our community safe and enjoyable for everyone.

If you see unsafe behavior or have a concern, please contact the Community Safety Department at 858.759.2644.

  1. What i see is that none, and I mean none of the riders are stopping at STOP signs, which all vehicles are required to do. This should be near the top of your list.
