More Pilates Reformer Classes, Not More Fountain Repairs

Fitness Classes Are a Bright Spot at Santaluz

Over the past few weeks, TheSantaluz.com has received a wave of emails from members — especially from our ladies community — sharing both praise and concerns about the Club’s fitness offerings and spending priorities.

Many members shared that fitness classes are a true highlight at the Club. The classes are well-organized, motivating, and add real value to the membership. There’s strong appreciation for the instructors and the diverse class options available.

Pilates Reformer Demand Is Outpacing Supply

Limited Space and Long Waiting Lists

One concern stood out across nearly every email:
🔹 Members are asking for more Pilates Reformer classes.

The Pilates Reformer studio is very limited in space, accommodating only five reformers. Classes fill up immediately, and the current booking system leaves many members stuck on the waiting list for weeks without being able to secure a spot.

It’s frustrating, especially for members who are paying for a premium experience.

Suggestions from Members: More Reformers, Expanded Studio

Several members proposed practical solutions:

  • Relocate the spin bikes to a different area to free up the current space, and
  • Add more Pilates Reformers to meet demand.

Others suggested that the better long-term solution would be expanding the fitness studio altogether, creating more room for both Pilates and other fitness offerings without sacrificing anything.

Spending Concerns: A $57,500 Fountain Over Studio Improvements?

While fitness demand continues to rise, many members are questioning the Club’s recent spending decisions.
🔹 A major concern raised in almost every email was the $57,500 renovation of the fountain next to the fitness studio.

According to members, the fountain was perfectly functional before — and the renovation project felt unnecessary compared to the obvious need for more usable fitness space.

As one member put it:

“I’ve been on the Pilates waitlist for three weeks. But hey, at least the fountain looks shiny.”

Members Want Practical Improvements, Not Unnecessary Upgrades

The feedback we received points to a simple but important trend:
Members want investments that directly improve their daily experience at the Club — not just cosmetic upgrades.

At Santaluz, the strength of our community has always come from members who care enough to speak up. We’ll continue to listen — and share — what you have to say.

  1. Who thought touching up a fountain for $60,000 was a bigger priority than adding a few more reformers? Maybe we can start exercising around the fountain since there’s no room inside.

  2. I am 100% with you on the fitness classes. However, I will say, that when we were looking at becoming members at Santaluz, we pointed out that things didn’t look kept up when we first walked into that area by the fountain. I vividly remember saying that about the fountain. It’s a first impression and we had some reservations because of that. The fountain needed to happen too. And unfortunately to do it right, it will cost that much.

    • You joined before the fountain was remodeled, even though it looked “unkept”? And now you’re defending the $60,000 spent to make it look exactly the same? That’s rich. I guess first impressions don’t matter that much after all — unless we’re justifying how members’ money gets washed down the drain… literally.

    • Charge more? I’m already paying over a thousand a month. Are you serious? Are you part of this world or just visiting? At that rate, the reformers should come with gold-plated springs and a complimentary therapist to talk us through the waitlist

      • oh Goodness – we dont need to pay more – sounds like our previous Federal administration- inefficiency in the house so charge more to the people. not here ! its common sense, lets get its members what they are paying for first in the first place.

  3. Why do we need more Pilates Reformer classes? This is a golf country club, I joined for the golf, not to help fund a private workout studio for 5 ladies who could just go to Crunch, LA Fitness, or 24 Hour Fitness.

    • It’s true that golf is the heart of Santaluz, but what makes this club special is the variety it offers. Racquet sports, fitness, swimming, it’s all part of what creates a great experience for members and their families. I actually agree that if there’s strong demand for more fitness classes, the Club should look into it. It’s all about making sure the member experience keeps evolving and improving.
And by the way, Pilates Reformer isn’t just for “five ladies”, there’s actually a large group of members actively participating.
